Pop Pulse UII
This attractive, highly compact and versitile little DAC / USB digital transport combines most of the benefits and housing of the famous PC-Link II with a very similar though improved circuit to the Pro.DAC MKII.
Its amazing sonic performance is in contradiction to its small, unassuming Stature. This is largly thanks to it using the very high performance CS8416 receiver chip coupled with the ultra high resolution CS4398 DAC chip. With a very good analogue output stage utilising dual LT1364C Op-Amps and greatly improved (over the Pro.DAC) Siemens output capacitors, the sound to the dollar ratio is amazing and the UII DAC is really a must have essential purchase.
It is also future proofed as its USB input turns any PC into a versatile, high-end audio digital playback source.
When connected up to a PC via its USB port, the UII converts the digital data stream from the USB input directly into I2S and straight onto the DAC chip. This bypasses the inferior SPDIF digital audio data stream format entirely and should almost eliminate jitter, thereby improving sound quality.
On the digital transport side of things, when connected to a PC via USB, the UII produces a clean, pure SPDIF signal though it's optical toslink, digital coaxial, balanced digital or BNC outputs.
